About the Author
Matthew Plampin was born in 1975 and lives in London. He completed a PhD at the Courtauld Institute of Art, and has written and lectured on nineteenth-century art and architecture. He is the author of three previous novels, Illumination, The Street Philosopher and The Devil's Acre.

If you like the early 1800s and its artists like JMW Turner, and his cohort Tom Girtin, then you will love this book. The author conjures up that time period with zest and insight. A fun read!

Outstanding Writer

Matthew Plampin is an outstanding writer. His book was well researched and his use of the English language is wonderful. It has been many years since I have read a book so very well done. For people who like biographies and writing with depth this is a book for you. I ordered all of his books that are available I enjoyed this one sooo much.
