Richard Secklin, a Cum Laude 2003 graduate from Lubbock Christian University. A previous business owner in New Mexico and a career law enforcement officer while living in Midland Texas. He retired after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and authored, Work Out Until Your Blue and Parkinson's Disease Looking Down the Barrel.

A must for anyone with PD

I was diagnosed in 2009 with PD. I went out and bought about every book I could find on the subject. This book I could not put down! It was very helpful and inspirational. I have no regrets purchasing this book. In fact I have read several times an I'm ready to read it again!

Parkinson's Looking Down the Barrel

This true story of a man diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in mid-life is eye opening and brutally honest.
I was blown away by this poignant characterization of what can happen when one is diagnosed with a debilitating disease as Richard shares with us his trials and tribulations while discovering and being treated for PD. He describes how this disease affected his home and work life, his emotional reaction, his battle with depression, and his ultimate acceptance.
At times his story is sad and downright heart-breaking, yet Richard is able to depict the brighter side of life with his sometimes funny anecdotes and his deep faith in God.
In the end, his words will leave you with the feeling of satisfaction and resolved joy, and possibly a deeper understanding of Romans 8:28 - "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to his purpose."

I read it straight through - no stopping; I didn't want to take a break! Wow. I didn't know much about Parkinson's before, but this book is more than just the What of the disease. It's about how it impacted every facet of the author's life as well as his relationships with other people and with God. And it's about hope - about hanging in there.
